I decided to take my puppy here after reading the reviews but had a horrible experience. The staff is nice but pushy and do not explain anything. They push their "care plan" which is a total scam. Over $750 dollars for a year. When you try to cancel it, they want almost $200 dollars just to cancel it, which is ridiculous. I will be looking for another vet as soon as possible.
On July 9th are little boy was very ill and the VCA animal hospital was very accommodating to us. They took bandit back to find out what was going on with him. The vet was very quick on helping bandit out. We had a tough decision to make that day. Bandit was almost 13 years old and was stricken with cancer and was bleeding internally. Bandit was a part of our family. He was our 3rd son. He helped us through life with is unconditional love. A part of us left with him that day but he will always be in our hearts. I want to thank the staff at the VCA animal hospital for all there help that day. They are very compassionate and caring. My heart weld up when I received a sympathy card from them. They made positive impression on my family, Bandit does have a sister that will need vet services in the future. They will be my primary vet in the future. God Bless. Sybil O'Connor
This is a great place filled with caring people. They are equipped to handle many emergencies like surgery. We took our dog here for surgery and they took great care of him. Everyone is very kind and professional.
Before they took him back for surgery, one of the staff members brought him out so I could visit with him. Despite being attacked by a dog twice his size, he emerged from the back tail wagging as the staff member handled him with care and love. I felt terrible that he threw up on the floor as I was visiting with him, but the tech was so sweet and reassured me that it was fine. They took him back when the sedative they gave him was clearly starting to set in.
I have to take a minute to rave about my experience with Dr. Carothers and the staff at the VCA Newark Animal Hospital! Last weekend, I made an unexpected trip to VCA after my English Springer Spaniel, Oshie, was attacked by a Pit Bull. I was out of town and had a hard time finding an emergency vet available to treat him, but thankfully VCA was able to see him. When I arrived, one of the technicians gently took Oshie from my arms and immediately took him back to be evaluated by Dr. Carothers. When she was done assessing him, she met me in one of the exam rooms. Luckily his injury wasn’t life threatening, but he did need surgery to stitch up a chunk of skin that was taken out of his shoulder. Dr. Carothers was professional yet personable as she updated me on his condition and the procedure he was about to undergo. I felt at ease with him in her hands!
The staff at VCA Newark Animal Hospital went above and beyond for Oshie and for that I am very grateful! In addition to the excellent quality of care, the VCA facility is truly amazing. It is easy to access, it is very spacious and it is clean! You won’t be disappointed taking your four legged family member here!
As soon as his surgery was over, Dr. Carothers met with me to tell me that everything went well and to explain Oshie’s post-surgery care. I could see she genuinely cared about Oshie by the way she talked about how sweet he is and what a good boy he had been. Almost as if he was her own! Since our visit, the staff have followed up via phone to check on him and answer any questions or concerns I had. Dr. Carothers and all of the staff members also sent him a get well card!
I wanted to thank all of you for exceeding my expectations with taking care of little Stella! She's doing awesome and still dancing as much as always! With an incident as scary as this one, it's humbling to be able to leave her knowing that she is in such great hands. You guys are all AWESOME! Thank you so much for everything you've done for us, I'll never forget it (and i'll never leave chocolate in that trashcan again!!) Stella says hi!
