We've used Penske trucks 3 times from this location and we've had a great experience EVERY TIME! Dan - I think he's the manager, is super accommodating and helpful. Great service and well maintained trucks!!!
Abosolutely horrible. Ended up going to U-Haul an hour after I should have had a truck. I reserved it for 7am for a 9am move a week in advance. I arrived just before 7am and the lady there said there wasn't a truck available. I asked if one would be delivered since I was told I'd have one at that location. She said one was "on it's way. Should be here in 20 minutes." After waiting 30 minutes I asked what's going on and she said "it's coming from Claymont." I asked how far out that was (I'm fairly new to the area) and she just shrugged her shoulders. I asked her when will it be here and she replied 45 minutes. I then asked for the phone number to u-haul and started making other arrangements. Within 5 minutes I had a truck available at a u-haul location. The complete and total incompetence of the employee at this location blows my mind. Couldn't imagine Penske would be this bad. Budget I could believe, but not Penske. Boy, was I wrong.
I HIGHLY recommend Penske Truck Rental on Elkton Rd in Newark. I had to rent a truck to transport equipment/furniture from Newark, DE to Albany NY in one day. I've never before rented a truck, much less driven a truck. Penske in Newark was the second place I inquired. I walked in the office 5 minutes before closing (didn't know they were closing... sorry!!),and was not at all rushed out the door because it was closing time. I was immediately put at ease by the kind associate who, not only quelled my nerves, he carefully listened to concerns, asked the particulars of my transportation needs, and offered the most amazing solution. I made the reservation on the spot, and returned the next day to pick up the truck. I was then helped by another wonderful associate who gave me the vehicle telling me I'd be fine. Nearly twenty-four hours and 730 miles later, I returned the truck at 3.30am using the key drop, and called in the morning to confirm all was fine. The smoothest, most remarkable service ever. Especially considering how difficult the entire move was to me. Thank you, thank you, thank you! Need a truck? Don't hesitate. Go to Penske Newark, DE!!!
Good price, especially if you have AAA. You get 20 percent off rental, better price than U Haul. Only thing is make sure to check for any errors before living.
We had the best experience with the Penske on S. Main St. We had to change our truck reservation a couple times (needed a bigger truck) and they were very accommodating. Then, our closing for our house was pushed back a couple hours before we were supposed to pick up the truck. Dan and the other guy in the office were so nice and helpful. They made us feel at ease for the stressful time. They pushed back the rental a week, no charge . Then, the day before they called to confirm everything. The showed us all the things we would need including the air brakes, etc. They were so nice and even helped us with the wonderful AAA discount. I would definitely recommend you use them. They made our moving experience so much smoother. Thank you Dan and your team!!!
